International Mother Language Day is a reminder of the importance of preserving and promoting linguistic diversity. It highlights the role that language plays in shaping identity, culture, and communication. The day also emphasizes the need to safeguard endangered languages, ensuring that every community has the right to express themselves in their mother tongue. For Bangladeshis, International Mother Language Day, also observed as the National Martyrs’ Day, holds immense significance as it honors the lives lost during the 1952 Language Movement.
Every year, we celebrate International Mother Language Day with our sponsored children, and this year was no exception. Lima actively participated in the program, paying tribute to the Martyrs who made the ultimate sacrifice for the recognition of the Bengali language.
