Flood Project Update
In August, 11 districts of Bangladesh have been flooded due to heavy rainfall and water released from India. Flood is quite common in Bangladesh but this time it has taken a devastating turn. Some districts are more affected than others. Feni, Noakhali, Comilla, Lakshmipur are in the worst situation. Around 5.7 million people have been affected and many were dead. So, we tried to do our best to help the people in these areas. At first, we distributed cooked foods at the shelters in Feni. In these areas people were having uncooked foods. They were having water-soaked rice and lentils because they didn’t have the means to cook them into meals.
When the water receded a little we distributed food packages in Feni and Noakhali. These packages included necessary food items, such as:
- Rice
- Lentils
- Potatoes
- Onions
- Oil
- Biscuits
- Purified Water
The people in these areas still need help. And even in the places where there’s no water, people need help to rebuild their houses and their livelihoods. Therefore, we have plans to execute a post-flood rehabilitation project.
